JACKSONVILLE, FL - The spotlight of Super Bowl XXXIX will be on ALLTEL Stadium on February 6, 2005, and Jacksonville, FL is ready to impress the 82,000 fans that will crowd the newly renovated home of NFLís Jacksonville Jaguars. In order to put their best foot forward, a $60 million makeover was completed prior to this yearís NFL season, and visitors to this high-tech facility have been awed by the results.
A segment of Phase Two of the renovation in the East and West Crown Royal Touchdown Clubs included major audiovisual improvements. Team owners wanted guests to experience every moment of the game, whether they were in their seats or enjoying the indoor comforts of the Clubs. This was accomplished by bringing the game into each of the 65,000 sq. ft. Touchdown Clubs via state of the art audiovisual displays. Unobstructed views of the on-field action are particularly impressive on the large SCRAMscreen® videowalls prominently placed around the perimeter of the club level.
Turner Construction Sports Group represented the Jaguars with John Zawodny performing as the Project Managerís Representative. "We had several objectives in providing a finished product that would have the "wow" factor which would make a visit to ALLTEL Stadium memorable," said Mr. Zawodny. "Sunlight pours into the West Crown Royal Touchdown Club during Sunday afternoon games. Finding video displays that would not wash out in high ambient light conditions was a challenge."
After reviewing and testing several contenders, SCRAM Technologiesí SCRAMscreens® were selected to be the large screen solution for the renovation. Four 10' x 6' and two 3' x 8' SCRAMscreens® were installed at both the East and West Clubs. The SCRAMscreen® wide viewing angles allow fans unrestricted performance that can be appreciated as they move about the Club spaces.
Florida Sound Engineering Company provided the sound and video system service and installation recommendations. The projection space behind the SCRAMscreens® needed no special preparation to optimize the performance of the 6,500 lumen projectors, but short throw distance lenses were added to keep the depth to a minimum. Installation of the displays was straightforward - the screens were leveled and secured into place with final modifications made by adjusting the projectors. The results were high definition videowalls with eye-catching images.
"We take pride in being able to deliver our fans with a first-class experience at ALLTEL Stadium, and we've been able to accomplish that with our new audiovisual features in the Clubs," said William Prescott, CFO and Senior Vice President of Stadium Operations. "We are the first stadium to showcase the SCRAMscreens®, and they are a hit not only with the fans, but with other events hosted in the Clubs. SCRAM Technologies provided us with a unique solution to the design challenges that we encountered in our Clubs. We couldnít be more pleased with the performance and service."
Ray Kwong, President and CEO of SCRAM Technologies added, "We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to demonstrate our technology in a high profile venue, such as ALLTEL Stadium. Our goal was to deliver innovative technology with exceptional service, and from the feedback weíve received, I'm confident that we've done both."
